Kid begins to find trinkets and necklaces and make necklaces and finds all of them give them some sort of power and accidentally accesses them in front of people scaring them. In time they find others but at firsthand hates jewelry not because he can't afford a small amount at the very least but because he does not find excitement or pleasure in the idea of being flashy.

People notice the jewelry... they dare not ask where they got it or they are blessed with an evil. If stolen, blessed with an evil... if looked at and see the magic disperse... blessed with an evil... either way it goes down... it's going down.
